"My favorite discipline is running, because it is what I am familiar with.
My favorite running race is the half marathon. It is a great "short distance" race. You can run it hard and recover quickly." Jacob Cooley, Age-Group Triathlete

"The bike is my favorite discipline in triathlon. I like it particularly because of the speed and distance covered. You get to see a lot of great areas during the race.
I’d have to say my two most memorable experiences are: My first ever triathlon in 09, which I decided less than 2 weeks out to do, and bought my first road bike one week out. To sum it up, I finished, but it was a close one between me and a guy in his 60’s or 70’s, (he was fit though). My second most memorable experience was finishing a triathlon thinking I won, only to remember after the fact that there was one wave 5 minutes behind, and in that wave another guy finished 3 seconds ahead of me. I have to give credit to him for pushing to the end, but would’ve been awesome to sprint it out in the same wave! Lesson learned."
